TEXAS (KETK) — Forbes Travel Guide released its 2022 Star Award winners on Tuesday, listing more than 1,000 destinations, including hotels, restaurants and spas from around the world. Of the many properties on the list, five Texas restaurants were shortlisted.
When selecting recipients of the Star Awards, Forbes Travel Guide inspectors test up to 900 “objective and rigorous standards, stemming from modern luxury”, such as whether food and drink choices are health-conscious, the quality of the decor and the courtesy of the staff. The following five Texas restaurants have met or exceeded these standards:
This Dallas-based restaurant received a 5-star rating from Forbes Travel Guide. Carte Blanche offers produce from their on-site bakery, as well as dinner service in their formal dining room which features a tasting menu that changes nightly seasonally, all using local ingredients.
The Restaurant of Fear
This restaurant serves a wide variety of American cuisine and is owned and operated by Chef Dean Fearing, who is the author of The Texas Food Bible and would be known as the “Father of Southwestern Cooking”. Fearing’s Restaurant has been rated 4 stars by Forbes and offers a wide range of lunch and dinner options, from Tex-Mex to seafood to steak. Chef Fearing’s culinary philosophy is: “Cooking delicious dishes is simple when you combine fresh, local ingredients.”
The French room
Another Dallas restaurant made the list and received a “Recommended” rating from Forbes. The French Room is part of the Adolphus Hotel, located in the heart of downtown Dallas, and serves fine French cuisine in a room inspired by European architecture.
This Austin-based grill received a 4-star rating from Forbes and operates as a “chef-led open-flame kitchen where diners can experience elevated classics like truffles and tomahawk steaks.” Garrison offers flame-grilled dishes and draws inspiration from seasonal local provisions, all in an open kitchen.
The mansion restaurant
This latest Texas restaurant to make the 2022 Star Awards list received four stars from Forbes and is based in Dallas. The Mansion Restaurant is located inside the Rosewood Hotel in the Turtle Creek neighborhood of Dallas and serves contemporary American cuisine with French inspiration, all prepared with fresh, local ingredients. They also serve breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner and even offer vegetarian options.
