ABC13 Virtual Career Fair will feature over 2,000 jobs at Alief

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – In a month’s time increased unemployment benefits in Texas will end, but ABC13 is offering you a way to get a job fast.

On Thursday, Eyewitness News will host its weekly virtual job fair in partnership with Workforce Solutions.

We will feature over 2,000 positions with a focus on the Alief community. Some positions pay more than $ 30 an hour.

You can watch the job fair live in the video player above at 11:30 am.

To participate, make sure you have a CV ready. You can also create a free profile on the state jobs website.

“These employers are looking to hire now,” said Workforce Solutions office manager Andre Azard. “If you attend these virtual career fairs, you will be able to hear about these opportunities and submit your information to get that new job.”

While these enhanced benefits soon end, experts say you shouldn’t wait until then to look for a job.

The interview process and paperwork can take several weeks. If you don’t know where to start, you can attend our virtual career fair or contact Workforce Solutions.

“We help clients find jobs,” Azard said. “Maybe you need interview skills, you want your CV reviewed, [or] maybe you are planning to embark on another career. We have a lot of services with your next chapter of your life. “

To preview the jobs, visit Workforce Solutions website and look for it “As seen on ABC13” section.

One of the companies looking to fill positions is Cantina Laredo, which is located just north of Alief.

“Many times we operate without a dishwasher,” said owner John Vargas, who recently reopened the restaurant. “I’m over there washing the dishes. I’m over there doing whatever it takes, cleaning the tables. I just have to help in any way I can.

Vargas thought that finding the money to reopen his business would be the hardest part. He didn’t realize that finding help would be so difficult, even after increasing his salary.

“Some of these servers are making up to $ 10 an hour as a server,” Vargas said. “We’re looking for bartenders. It’s the right pay there.”

You can also stream Thursday’s career fair to your favorite streaming devices, such as Roku, FireTV, AppleTV, and GoogleTV. Just search for “ABC13 Houston“.
