The fast food game continues to grow in Colorado, and El Pollo Loco will be the new option. The chain plans to open its first Colorado restaurants in 2022.
Eight restaurants from the fire-grilled chicken chain are coming to the centennial state, the company said. The number of locations could reach up to 15 in the metropolitan area over the next five years.
El Pollo Loco has signed agreements for four restaurants on either side of town with two separate franchisees. LMU Investments will open four restaurants in the eastern part of Denver, the first to open next year in Peoria, located along I-70 east of the metropolitan area near Strasbourg. Pikes Pollo Inc. will operate stores on the west side of town.
The company said the initial investment to own and operate a single unit is estimated to be between $ 770,000 and $ 2,097,000, including a franchise fee of $ 40,000.
The expansion announcement comes as El Pollo Loco is aggressively expanding its national footprint. The chain is renovating 300 of the 478 existing restaurants in Arizona, California, Nevada, Texas, Utah and Louisiana.
Colorado recently added In-N-Out to its fast food options, and Whataburger is on the way.
