DerivationThe Kirby Group’s intimate 32-seat cocktail bar is one of 25 bars included in Esquire magazine’s list of 2022 Best Bars in America.

Opened in January 2021 at 7202 Long Point in Spring Branch, the bar is a sister concept to Degust, the tasting menu restaurant also from the Kirby Group (Wooster’s Garden, Heights Biergarten, Holman Draft Hall).

Esquire praised Diversión for its experimental cocktail program led by Culinary Director Steven E. Salazar. “The low-slung brick building is a bar kitchen, filled with more flasks and equipment than a Pfizer lab,” Esquire wrote.

Last year, the magazine named Degust one of its Best New Restaurants in America for 2021.

Diversión was the only bar in Houston on the new Esquire list, and one of only two bars in Texas included. Tiki Tatsu-ya, the trendy Austin tiki bar from the Ramen Tatsu-ya team, was also named to the list of Best New Bars of 2022.
