Little Elm mayor’s son suspected of stabbing Grandscape restaurant at The Colony

The Little Elm mayor’s son was arrested for stabbing two men at a restaurant in Grandscape on Thursday night, according to The Colony police.

Christian James Cornelious, 20, is accused of assaulting the men at Seven Doors Kitchen & Cocktails shortly after 6:30 p.m., police said.

“Like many, I am shocked and saddened by the events involving my son,” said Little Elm Mayor Curtis Cornelious. told CBS 11 (KTVT-TV) in a prepared statement. “I remain in prayer for everyone involved. “

Witnesses reported that the men were attacked by a man with a knife who stabbed them repeatedly, The Colony police said.

The suspect, later identified as Cornelious, then fled and resisted arrest, police say after officers took him into custody outside a department store near “a large gathering of other people. having dinner and attending an outdoor concert “.

“Based on initial contact with officers, the suspect appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis,” the department said in a press release.

Cornelious was taken to hospital and transferred to The Colony Prison, where he was convicted of two counts of aggravated assault with a lethal weapon, one count of escape arrest and one count of resistance to the ‘arrest.

Police said the victims were treated in hospitals and one was released. The other was in an intensive care unit with non-life threatening injuries.

Police told the news station that the suspect and the victims did not know each other.
