Opening of the new Chick-fil-A in downtown Dallas

In a “vibrant corner” of downtown Dallas – Elm and Akard streets – Chick-fil-A will open its first street-facing restaurant in the neighborhood, confirms Kyana Bascomb, senior property manager for Chick-fil-A.

It will be located on the ground floor of The National, a $460 million renovation project in downtown Dallas that seems to do it all: Upstairs at the 49th-floor Monarch restaurant, expensive Italian fare are served with an incredible view of the city; on the east side, the art-filled Thompson Hotel has more than 200 hotel rooms and sprawling ballrooms for large-scale events; and at street level, busy commuters and downtown Dallas dwellers will have White Rhino Coffee and, soon, a Chick-fil-A.

The National is the largest downtown Dallas building redevelopment to date, reports our real estate editor Steve Brown. It’s one of many historic projects by Todd Interests of Dallas.

Pedestrians will be able to dine in or take out food and the store will also rely heavily on delivery and restaurant options, given its location in a bustling urban center, Bascomb says.

There will be no drive-thru, confirms Philip Todd, a Todd Interests partner.

Anyone who wants to park nearby can look for a parking garage or a spot on the street – or can pay for valet parking at the National. (Chicken Nuggets and Valet: Only in Dallas?)

The new Chick-fil-A is scheduled to open in late 2022 or early 2023. It will be the only one in Downtown Dallas or Uptown Dallas, as the existing Chick-fil-A in the tunnels under Renaissance Tower will eventually close.

Its owner-operator, Joshua Calva, will relocate and operate the new Chick-fil-A at the National.

The restaurant’s design will be “unique to D-FW,” Bascomb says, as it will be similar to Chick-fil-As in major downtown areas like Manhattan and different in style from freestanding, heavy-duty restaurants. most people are used to D-FW. The menu will not change.

Chick-fil-A currently operates 140 restaurants in North Texas.

Chick-fil-A will open at 1401 Elm St., Dallas (on the ground floor of National Development) in late 2022 or early 2023.
