Suspect charged with killing Humble outside Chuck E. Cheese

Humble police detectives charged a murder suspect on Saturday in the murder of a father on New Year’s Eve who was heading to a Chuck E. Cheese for his child’s birthday party.

Antoine Daniel Badon, 27, of Humble has been cautioned in the fatal shooting of 24-year-old Calogero Duenes, court records show. Duenes was carrying a cake into the chain room when he was shot outside the building, Humble police previously said.

Officers heard three shots around 4:50 p.m. on December 31. They arrived to find a man down. Duenes was taken by ambulance to hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

ABC-13 spoke to the slain man’s widow, Amber Uresti, who said Duenes was in the parking lot walking to the restaurant and was inside with their 6- and 3-year-old daughters. Uresti told the hostess that her husband was right behind her. She turned around and Duenes came running through the door and, “He kept saying, ‘I got shot! I got shot!'”

A Humble Police official previously said witnesses and video confirmed a Ford driver nearly hit him outside. The driver and Duenes were seen having a verbal argument, then the driver shot Duenes with a pistol.

Badon, who was arrested earlier this month for assault on a family member and aggravated assault, is being held in the Harris County Jail. He was due to have a probable cause hearing Saturday night.
