I’ve been to the Texas Roadhouse in Scarborough most days, but last Saturday night we had the most entertaining waiter we’ve ever had there.
I was there with my girlfriend Michele and her daughter Lily. It was Lily’s idea to go to the Texas Roadhouse and we were all on board. If you’ve never been to the Texas Roadhouse on a Saturday night, be prepared to wait. They get crazy busy. I mean wait times over an hour but people will be waiting all that long for a table just like we did. It’s good food at a good price and the ambiance is just right for a place called Texas Roadhouse.
Our server was called Tim and this guy was a funny guy. When Tim arrived, he had barely finished bowing when he noticed Lily reaching for the drinks menu and yelling at her a little for being the first on the right. She immediately said, “Yes, I have my ID” before being questioned and Tim checked her out giving her the all clear.
Every time we get a super nice waiter in the restaurant, Michele comes back super nice. She asked him where he was from and he said he was born in Maine, moved away and came back because he had kids. He told us he lives in Dayton and let his kids know he doesn’t care who they date but if they’re from Dayton he wants to know who they are because he has to make sure that they are not related to him. My apologies to Dayton, but he said it, not me, and I think it’s damn funny.
When it was time to pay the check, he asked if Lily was paying, and I grabbed him because I knew the answer, but I think Tim did too.
Not only was Tim great, but Zion who brought our food was super nice and personable, as was Amy the assistant manager who came to see us shortly after we were served to make sure everything was ok.
These three people really impressed me. They had probably been hard at work for hours with a parking lot full of cars and a long line of people waiting for a table. Not to mention the people who work for takeout orders which have exploded in numbers since the pandemic.
Always being friendly, having a smile on your face and taking the time to chat with your customers while dealing with a constantly packed restaurant is something that deserves recognition. And I’m sure Tim, Zion and Amy weren’t the only ones working there that night with that kind of positive attitude.
It’s not an easy job, but these folks are doing great and I just wanted to thank them for making our dining experience that much better.
You’re breaking the law in Maine if you keep any of these animals as pets.
Stick to the cats and dogs you know, because if you keep any of these animals (or animals like them) as a pet in Maine, you’re breaking the law and could face serious penalties.
