With all the recent openings and new drink cards, there’s no shortage of nominees for the November edition of Where to Drink in Dallas Right Now, CultureMap’s monthly feature that offers suggestions on where to drink in Dallas. Right now.
This month features two new locations, a nearly new third, and one that has a tantalizing new cocktail menu for the holidays.
Here’s where to drink for November:
AC Hotel Dallas by The Galleria
The Marriott by the Galleria opened about three years ago and has an on-site restaurant and bar called AC Lounge, where they serve Spanish tapas, wine by the glass, and loads of cocktails. They have just launched a menu of seasonal drinks, incorporating fall ingredients such as allspice, pumpkin, pecans, orange and star anise. Cocktails include Spiced Pear Gin Fizz with Anjou pear, allspice, Dripping Springs Gin infused with star anise, lemon juice, Fever Tree club soda and egg white; and the Pumpkin Bourbon Smash with Makers Mark Bourbon, spicy pumpkin, lime juice, Demerara syrup and homemade pecan bitters. The proximity to the Galleria makes it a perfect stopover after shopping (or before, if that’s how you ride).
On the ground
The newly opened downtown venue is coffee guru Mike Mettendorf’s coffee and cocktail bar in one, and like his siblings La Reunion and State Street Coffee, he takes what he does very seriously: carefully selected coffee beans and crisp coffee drinks, to a clever approach to cocktails, including coffee-based cocktails such as the Espresso Martini with vodka, Kahlúa, espresso and vanilla; and the irresistible Carajillo with Pierre Ferrand Ambré Cognac, Licor 43 and espresso. No detail is overlooked, and there is staff with pedigrees to deliver the best. Wine drinkers are advised to come on Wednesdays when they buy half the bottles of wine from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Last fight of the people
There has been a lot of coming and going at Mockingbird Station, but this pioneering haunt of craft cocktails has shown superpower endurance, cycling into new menus almost every week, being very creative and just bringing their game to every day. All of the cocktails on the menu are $ 11, which is an offer by today’s craft cocktail standards, and they have a happy hour every day until 7:00 p.m. with a selection of cocktails at $ 8. Right now they are one of three bars in town (along with La Reunion in Oak Cliff and Shoal’s in Deep Ellum) that feature a special âGold Fashionedâ featuring Aberfeldy Single Malt Scotch Whiskey, a fruity whiskey Highland style. which is nicknamed “the Golden Dram” because of its water source, the Pitilie Burn, a river known for its gold deposits. The drink combines 12 Year Old Aberfeldy, honey syrup, Angostura bitters and orange bitters.
